“I can understand why someone would drink too much. What I don’t understand is how everyone doesn’t.”
If you are struggling with a vice that feels out of control, you’ve come to the right place. I started my career working closely with Seattle’s most affected populations in an inpatient setting. Now I have the opportunity to work with every day individuals, people with families and day jobs who have felt too stigmatized or ashamed to face the realities of their addiction head on.
Maybe you’ve had experience with traditional therapists who don’t fully understand the nature of addiction and what you’ve gone through. I’ve talked to many individuals who felt stigmatized, misunderstood or were simply turned away from mainstream practitioners. More and more, the world’s of addiction therapy and traditional therapy have been stratified. And yet rarely does addiction happen in a vacuum. Are we sad because we use, or do we use because we are sad? These are simple questions without easy answers. I am here to bridge that gap of understanding and help you through this time with compassion, a wealth of knowledge and proven methods to help you work through this problem and live your life at the same time.
I will work with you on a treatment plan that takes all of your life variables into account. There will be no mandated 12-step meetings (although I am well-versed in the fellowship and happy to support), no drug tests or surprise interventions. I will work with you on abstinence, reducing your intake, improving your relationship with the substance, relapse prevention and intervention, understanding the root of your addiction and everything in between. My work with addiction includes elements of DBT, CBT, trauma-informed care, schema therapy, relapse prevention methods, stages of change, 12-step methodology and mindfulness-based recovery.
I work with substance-based addictions, including alcohol, cannabis, cigarettes, opioids, benzos, kratom… what have you got? I can also work with you on gambling, video game/phone/media addiction, issues with food, body-repetitive compulsive behaviors (hair pulling, skin picking) and hoarding. If you’re curious if I have experience or knowledge on a particular vice you are struggling with, just ask!
I think it’s so cool that you’re here, and I can’t wait to help you find yourself again.
